How to use categories and options to make your products easier to find and purchase

Categories make your products easier to find and options make your products available to a wider audience. Organizing your products with categories and options is easy in the electronic storefront available through NetFootprint and Comersus. First log into the administrative portion of your e-commerce site and click on the Products link:

Categories are fairly straightforward. You can assign up to three levels of categorization for each of your products, and this can all be set up through the category button. You would then assign your products to these categories through the product information screen:

Options are a little different.  Options allow customization to your product through a vehicle called "option groups", making it acceptable to a broader market segment. For example, by making a musical performance available in multiple formats (option group) such as CD and cassette (as options), you will appeal to people who have CD players as well as those without.  You would then assign these option groups to your various products buy clicking the "OptionGroups to products assignment":

You are given a list of products which you can assign option groups to. Select a product and click the "List" button to see the option groups already assigned to that product. Then you may assign or remove groups form that product:
