How do I get what I want to do from my brain to the screen?

Once you have chosen your editor you need to design the pages that will make up your site.  Follow the directions included with the editor you are using to get the text formatted and the pictures and other objects referenced correctly.  Keep in mind that large images and animations take a long time to download, and use up more of your allotted bandwidth every time someone looks at your page, so try to keep the objects as small as possible while still getting the page to look as intended.

One important thing to keep in mind is that every website should have a home page with default or index for the filename so that page will load if someone only types the domain name into the address bar of their browser.  i.e.  http://www.defaultco.com rather than http://www.defaultco.com/index.html.
